Rome, Italy: Terre Differenti is the name of a musical project conceived and developed by Fabio Armani, an Italian composer who lives in Rome. Many distinct elements contribute to Terre Differenti: from electronic and ambient music to jazz influences, from world and early music to trance and new age.
Formed in 1998, the history of the musical collaboration among the members of Terre Differenti began ten years ago when Fabio, and drummer Alessandro D'Aloia, played in their own jazz quartet. Other musicians joined the band after their collaboration with another project called Advena Avis, where medieval music was merged with electronic and ethnic elements.
The Italian the word "terra" has a many meanings. Terra is the soil and this signifies primitive, material concepts. Terra is the clay, and in arts we can use different clays to produce sculpture and colors. Terre Differenti refers to different lands -- unknown places to reach after a long journey, or different worlds, in space and time to discover.
Their debut album, Terre Differenti, fuses diverse elements to make a musical whole.
