Sculptor/fashion designer Tsai Chih-Hsien presents his original designs with unique crispness. For his sculpture, Chih-Hsien finds materials that already have served a function, mostly remnants of old machines, and moves with the flow of the materials to give them new life and new shape. As an artist Chih-Hsien views the metal as music in space with a strong life inside that is associated with the society.
His recent sculpture works embody a collection entitled "Utopia In A Post Industrial Age." In cutting the metal and making smooth, simple connections, the artwork becomes subtle yet detached from the images. Its social connotations reflect the new life that has been given to the old pieces of metal.
Similarly, Chih-Hsien fashion design is quiet and free, giving comfort instead of limiting those who wear it. Chih-Hsien's fashion with its distinctly Asian flavor has been displayed in fashion shows in Taipei and New York City.
