From Sofia, Bulgaria, Balkanfolk's preserves and performs the musical and dance folklore from the Balkan countries. As part of its activities it has produced albums of Bulgarian folklore dance music. Each CD contains more than 20 songs, and the names of the pieces correspond to the actual names of the folklore dances. The music is performed by the Zornitsa Orchestra playing traditional Bulgarian instruments: tamboura, tapan, kaval, gaida, gadoulka and contrabass.
