SHANGHAI DREAM
Trained as a classical pianist, Tian has embarked on a parallel career of composing and performing original contemporary compositions. Difficult to classify, Tian's music has been called classical crossover, new age and easy listening.
Shanghai Dream, Tian's debut album of solo piano compositions, features romantic melodies grounded in classical harmonies. Rhythm Music declares "Shanghai Dream" shows that Tian "can keep pace with the world's established pianists" and World Music Review World Music Reviews calls the album a "slice of heaven."

DANCING WAVES
Working with voice, flute and Spanish guitar, Dancing Waves expands Tian's solo work and demonstrates Tian's virtuosity as a performer and composer. Dancing Waves establishes Tian as a true global artist. New Age Music Journal acknowledges "Dancing Waves as a "stunning follow-up to the critically acclaimed "Shanghai Dream" and CDNow recognizes "Dancing Waves" as a "great accomplishment for Tian."
Tian was born in China during the great famine resulting from the cultural revolution. Although his family were condemned as intellectuals, Tian, a child prodigy, pursued his natural musical talent. Graduating from the Shanghai Conservatory, Tian was one of the first artists allowed to leave China to study in the United States.
Now Tian is recognized as one of world's exciting virtuoso pianists. He has performed as a solist and with orchestras in more than 30 cities around the world, including most recently with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Shanghai Grand Theater. Tian's natural compositional skills were highlighted on NPR's "All Things Considered" and Tian has made many television appearances.
"It is a rare treasure to experience art that, once suppressed and now liberated, seems to reach more deeply, burn more brightly for its journey. This is the case of Tian, master concert pianist and brilliant composer. Rightfully, Tian's compositions will be remembered. For they are a unique marriage of Western harmonies and technical strength with the Eastern psyche that reach a peak of millennial universality."
