Rarely does a musician leave a mark on the world that lasts for generations. Irving Burgie's songs not only changed the culture of the world but changed the way people taught their children about music.
Growing up in the West Indian section of Brooklyn, Irving Burgie became interested in music of other cultures in his travels as a soldier in World War II. He enrolled in the Julliard School of Muisc, developing a broad knowledge of song literature dating back to Gregorian chants. After graduating, Irving became interested in folk music. In the early 1950's he began performing and writing. Join one of the greatest composers of Caribbean music as he takes you on a festive musical journey.
